Did you know that the face of this dime is based on a bust of Elsie Stevens, wife of the famous poet, Wallace Stevens? Most people just assumed that it must be Mercury, Roman god of wealth, known for his winged hat (and sandals, not shown). Hence the name Mercury Dime (It has a much better ring than Elsie Dime anyway).
The Mercury Dime was designed by sculpture Adolph A. Weinman and introduced in 1916, an era dubbed the Golden Age of Coinage. It is considered the most attractive U.S. ten-cent coin ever made, and makes a timeless, eye-catching accessory as a cuff link.
The Mercury Dime is also available in the leather Money Clip Wallet (Black, Brown, and Red)
